Japanese has been identified by the Federal Government as one of the priority languages from the Asia-Pacific region to be taught in Australian schools.
Japanese Language students are offered the opportunity to broaden their general education in communications, cross-cultural understanding, literacy and general knowledge throughout this course.
The ability to communicate in Japanese in conjunction with other skills, enhances students vocational opportunities in the areas of :
Trade; Tourism; Hospitality; Banking; Finance; Technology;
Education; Research; The Arts; Diplomacy; Government; Law;
Media; Advertising; Translating; Interpreting and Cuisine'
Morley High School students are fortunate in having the opportunity to participate in an Exchange Program. The school has a long established Sister School with Akashi Senior High School, Hyogo, Japan.
The Exchange is on a bi-annual schedule with Morley students travelling to Japan in one year and the Akashi students coming to our school the following year.
Students are taught the fundamental elements of speaking and the writing the two Japanese scripts, Hiragana and Katakana. A component of Kanji is introduced as students make progress in their studies. The Program avails students of practical cultural experience in and around Perth .
Morley Senior High School offers Japanese Language students comprehensive courses including 2A and 2B.
Importantly, the students are taught by a qualified native speaker and in addition other native speakers are utilised to provide oral language practise for participating students on a one to one basis.
