Media Studies
Lower School Courses in Media Studies.
The Year 9 Course provides students with an introduction to media including the specialist terms used in the industry. Studies include -
- Investigations on the way in which film, television and radio use different techniques to convey their message.
- Emphasises is plaed on the techniques used by adevertisers.
- Scheduling within the proscribed studies offeres students the opportunities to create their own advertisements and ad campaigns.
The Year 10 Course extends students’ categorisation and classification skills in -
- TV Shows, films and radio productions.
- Film, television and radio genres and their particular effects are studied
- An analysis of different media genre together with the production of short films, television and radio productions are undertaken by students.
Continuing with their studies, students analyses how “Real” media is produced.
Students study –
- Devices and techniques used constructing "Factual" Film, Television and radio.
- Students study documentaries, reality TV, newspapers, TV and radio news as well game/quiz shows.
Upper School Courses in Media.
Media Production and Analysis course of study explores media that range from traditional forms, such as –
- Fim, photography, newspapers, magazines, comics.
- Radio and television
- New and emerging multimedia technologies
The school offers two versions of this course of study –
- A vocational version (Certificate II Television Broadcasting) Typically in Year 11
- A general version (Media Production and Analysis 1A - 1B) Typically in Year 12
